How to Reset a Non-Responsive GFCI Outlet

1Unplug All Connected Devices

Remove every device plugged into the GFCI outlet and any other outlets on the same circuit ¹. A faulty appliance is the most common cause of a trip ¹. Do not attempt to reset the outlet while devices are connected ¹.

2Check the Main Circuit Breaker

4Attempt the Reset

5Seek Professional Intervention

Caution: Attempting to repair internal wiring without proper training carries a lethal shock risk; always verify power is off with a tester before touching wires.

If the outlet still will not reset, do not attempt to open the outlet or perform internal repairs ¹¹.
